A Great Podcast About Homeschooling or Distance Learning During Covid-19

Posted on August 17, 2020February 1, 2021 by Gwen Shaneck

We started homeschooling this morning and I have to say that it went pretty ok. We’re still ordering books and waiting for deliveries, but I wanted to get going so that we could stop just waiting for school to start.

Although I homeschooled before, I have been researching and listening to a bunch of different people. I am an ambivalent homeschooler, but there are people who are very happy to do it and who are very enthusiastic homeschoolers.

Mindy and Kaytee of the Currently Reading podcast just did a great minisode entitled “The Readers Guide to Homeschooling.” It was full of really great tips, encouragement, and ideas for further research. I have definitely written some of their ideas down and also immediately implemented the spiral notebook system of organizing your homeschool day.

It was really great to hear two women so excited about homeschooling without being dogmatic and judgey. I really appreciated their advice and I think, if you are looking for a great place for inspiration or ideas, that you will as well.

What is this place?

Welcome to my little place in the internet. I write about my family and what it’s like to suddenly find myself homeschooling my four children – including a high schooler and two middle schoolers during COVID-19. I also spend some time writing about writing and how I am trying to get more of it in my life.
