I’m homeschooling my Kindergartener.
I wanted to add something called a Morning Meeting to our day. If you google “Homeschool Morning Meeting” you will find lots of good ideas for how to structure your morning. But, I wanted something a little less intensive. Something that she could take ownership over.
I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. Therefore, I decided to create what I wanted.
I printed off a calendar page for each month from PDFCalendar.com
Every morning we sit down after breakfast, look at the weather, and then she colors in the weather on the calendar.

We talk about the date, the day of the week, the weather, and the calendar itself.
After that we sing songs: the ABC song, Days of the Week, Months of the Year.
Then, she counts. In August she counted from 1-20, then backwards from 10. In September she is counting from 1-30, then, backwards from 20. Then, she does a page of her 1-30 dot-to-dot book.
I plan to expand this month by month until she can count to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.
Do you or have you ever used a morning meeting? I have to admit I’m finding it kind of fun.
