Who am I kidding? I am the last person to give you advice in how to do pretty much anything, but especially properly take care of the wild birds that come to your yard and eat from your feeders. I love feeding the birds. I love to watch and keep track of the birds – let me interject here to say that recently while kayaking at our local state park I saw a Green Heron! highlight of my week for sure! – and participate in the feeder watch project. And, I try, I do, to feed them properly and I’m sure I do things wrong. I’m sure there are bird feeding experts who would rather I not. But, I love it. And so do the birds.
However, all that to say, those first couple of posts were exercises in writing factual essays. In trying to start a “career” as a writer. But, I think to really start a career, I need to write. I need to see the words on the page as necessary to expressing myself. And, I think with diligent practice I will be able to write better, more coherent prose. I think it will help me develop the skills that I want to hone and shape. So, with that in mind, and with the summer upon us (this is the kids first full week at home), we signed up for SkillShare. They were running a promotion, 3 months for $0.99. Now, the deal is that if you click on my link you get 2 free months, and I get one. But, I signed up for Creative Writing for All: A 10-Day Journaling Challenge a course that seemed perfect to jump start this endeavor. So, tomorrow, I’ll be starting the ten day challenge. I’m pretty sure you can do it without signing up for the class. Just watch the free intro video and maybe we’ll do it together.
